Grand Mufti of Australia Professor Ibrahim Abu Mohamed asked the Indonesian government reconsider the death penalty policy convicted of narcotics. According to him, forgiveness is the core of the teachings of Islam. 

"We, as leaders of Islam, respecting the attitude of the Government of Indonesia's efforts to combat drug firm in Indonesia. We do not mean to criticize the judicial system in cases of this time. Accompanied by some Muslim leaders of Australia, the Grand Mufti Ibrahim met with the Minister of Religious Affairs in Jakarta Lukman Hakim Saifuddin. He plans to meet with some other Muslim leaders in Indonesia to discuss the problem of execution.
